What is Adoptive Parenting?
Adopting a child through Trumbull County Children Services can be a rewarding and heartfelt experience for the adopted child and for the adopting parent.  There are many children in our custody who are waiting to be adopted.  Children waiting to be adopted are teenagers, and children who have special needs such as physical, emotional and mental disabilities or sibling groups who should remain together.
 
Trumbull County Children Services is a public agency that provides adoption services as a part of a full range of Child Welfare Services designed to reach the goal of strengthening and maintaining family life.
 
The focus of Adoption Services is to secure permanent and stable homes, which will meet the best interests and special needs of children in permanent custody.  To achieve this, Trumbull County Children Services aggressively recruits families to assure that every child available for adoption is adopted. Adoptive families and children are assessed to bring about the best possible match between prospective adoptive parents and the waiting child.  
 
During the assessment process, the Agency will work to identify concerns with the prospective adoptive family and the child and these issues will be resolved before any placement decision is made.
 
Trumbull County Children Services will make available the necessary supportive services to maintain adoptive placement and promote the well-being of all family members.
 
Note: There are no fees or costs for becoming an adoptive parent.
